Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 27-29; Luke 17: 1-19.
Memory Verse: “And when Saul enquired of the Lord, the Lord answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.” 1 Samuel 28:6 (KJV).
A woman had cancer and she went to several places for healing without any solution. She prayed earnestly but God was silent! So she decided to go to a man of God to pray for her. The man was about praying when God spoke to him not to pray for her as she was harboring unforgiveness against her husband. She was told why God had been silent and that she needed to forgive the man. Upon hearing about her husband, she decided never to forgive him because he eloped with another woman and abandoned her with the children to cater for. She later changed her mind and God forgave and healed her.
In our passage of today, Saul approached God but there was no answer because he had sinned against Him and He had told him, the kingdom had been taken away from him. in 1 Samuel 28:6 (KJV), “And when Saul enquired of the Lord, the Lord answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.”
But instead of him praising God and praying for mercy, he decided to do what he knew God hated again by going to enquire from familiar spirit! No wonder God gave him instant judgment and spelt the name of his successor to him ( 1 Samuel 28:17) and how he and his sons will die in 1 Samuel 28:19 (KJV), “Moreover the Lord will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and to morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the Lord also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.”
Have you sinned against the Lord and He is silent on your supplications? Don’t consider any devil alternative, rather praise God continuously and ask for mercy. However, remember also that if anyone has offended you, forgive him while you also seek the face of God. Remember the word of God in Luke 11:4 (KJV), “And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.”
Action Point: Call on God for mercy and also forgive anyone who has offended you.
