Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 7, 8, 9; John 6:25-48
“Jesus answered them and said, verily, verily, I say unto you, ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracle, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled” – John 6:26 (KJV)
Body receives nutrients from various types of food it takes in. The reason many people today turn themselves to broad day light thieves or pick pockets is because of stomach infrastructure. Some would not mind the nature of the job as long as it could put food into their stomach. Way back in the days of Jesus, issue of food had been a strong one. All consumables perishes. In fact the entire universe shall one day perish. “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up” – 2 Peter 3:10 (KJV). Without any doubt, this scripture settles the fact that many of the things people concentrate on in today’s pursuit are actually booked for eventual destruction.
The people that Jesus Christ fed in His day made efforts to still look for Him even to the extent of crossing the sea. Think of the risk they embarked upon because of food, they nevertheless found Him. Never forget that Jesus knows the thought of everyone. He thus said: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, ye seek me not because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled, labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed” John 6:26-27(KJV).
Many of our prayer houses are filled today not because the crowds are actually seeking for Jesus but for meat for their children, wife, husband, visa to travel out for greener pasture, change of job, car, etc. Good as all the above listed may appear, it must never be at the expense of meat that guarantees eternal life which comes only from Jesus. What you are currently engaging God with, is it meat that would last or perish in a short while? Think about it!
Prayer Point: Lord Jesus, let my heart remain steadfast with You in my search for life sustainability.
