Bible Reading: ISAIAH 3: 1-end
“And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them” – Isaiah 3:4 (KJV).
Most times, people complain of the leaders and rulers that rule over them. They criticize and blame the government or parties; they pass the bulk and fail to take responsibility for bad leadership. They wonder why God allow such leaders to rule them. They pray for the leaders to die or be removed; but the more they wish for better leaders the more bad leaders emerge. The right leaders they desire to have they never have.
The truth is that most times, people are ruled by the leaders they deserve, not necessarily the kind of leaders they desire. God often give to a people the kind of leader they deserve. When God’s people fail to raise godly leaders, chances are that ungodly leaders will emerge. When a people fail to raise responsible leaders, irresponsible leaders most likely will emerge. When a people reject or abandon God and his ways, God will allow wicked leaders to afflict them so they will turn from their ungodly ways and seek him. When a people begin to pursue and promote materialism and worldliness, they pave the way for evil to triumph in the society and nation. You cannot do evil and expect good result. “Be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” – Galatians 6:7 (KJV).
When people fail to raise and train matured and godly leaders, immature and ungodly leaders will rule over them. Note that maturity is not necessarily a function of age, but spiritual, moral and mental development. Children are foolish, gullible and selfish, but matured leaders are wise, selfless and temperate. A people decide who rules over them by taking responsibility for raising leaders and creating the right environment.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help us to take responsibility for raising the right leaders.
