Bible Reading: Psalm 112-115; 1 Corinthians 1.
Memory Verse: “That no flesh should glory in his presence.” 1 Corinthians 1:29 (KJV)
There was the story of a man of God. He was highly anointed and gifted in the Spirit. He was reported to have gone for a message in a location where he did not understand their language but was able to speak to them in that language fluently by reason of the gift of tongue. He was said to deliver several from demonic attacks. He was so anointed that it was said he raised not less than three dead people back to life.
Then, he became full of himself. Whenever any one was preaching or having a Bible study and he was invited to the venue, he would ask how many dead had he raised for him to listen to the person! Gradually he arrogated the glory of God to himself and he ended up being mad! Brethren, God is ready to use you to do exploits but He will not share his glory with anyone. 1 Corinthians 1:29 (KJV) says, “That no flesh should glory in his presence.”
Remember, Nebuchadnezzar did a similar thing when he arrogated the power to build Babylon to himself. He said in Daniel 4:30 (KJV), “… Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?” God turned him into an animal and he was driven from the same palace. He only came back after recanting his thoughts and giving the due glory to God Almighty.
For some men of God who share the glory of God, they may not be mad like the example above but may lose the anointing. The sad part is that such people are usually unable to bear the shame that accompanies loss of anointing of God so they look for alternatives. They go in search of demonic power in order to replicate the miracles that God had used them to do in the past. Thus they trade their heavenly mansion for hell because they cannot face the immediate consequences of their action which shows that they were not really born again.
Whether God is sanctioning you as a man of God or a man in position of authority who tries to usurp the glory of God, it is imperative that you repent now and go to Him in remorse, seeking his face for restoration. It is better to face the judgment of God now as he is merciful rather than spending eternity in hell! Proverbs 28:13 (KJV) says, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” God is definitely willing and ready to forgive you as long as you are ready to forsake the sinful life and embark on a new journey of righteousness with him.
Prayer Point: Father, in anyway, I have tried to share your glory, please show me mercy and help me never to do so again in Jesus Christ’s name.
