Bible Reading: Proverbs 24
AWAKE TO THIS CALL
Deliver those who are drawn away to death, and those who totter to the slaughter, hold them back {from their doom} – Proverbs 24:11 (Amp)
It is amazing to know that a lot of Christians are not only sleeping but snoring and have forgotten the reason for their call. We have a slogan “Saved to Serve” in the early days of our Christian journey which is still very relevant now and to eternity. Each of us should ask ourselves this important question- how many souls have I delivered from death since I gave my life to Christ? When we talk about death, we are not talking about the separation of the loved ones from us. Rather, the eternal death which awaits every soul that refuses to embrace the provision made available by the Lord Jesus Christ.
The urgency with which the people of old took this matter was alarming! but now, it is suffering a serious setback. This made people like Paul say “For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me if I don’t preach the gospel!” – 1 Cor. 9:16. A lot of Christians are lackadaisical about this mandate. How many souls are in hell now mentioning your name because of your refusal to share the message of life with them? What is that thing that is taking your time which is making you not see that even to deliver a soul is important? You cannot say that you have not been commissioned. That would be a slap on the face of the Redeemer who commissioned all of us by reason of His statement: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world” – Matt. 28:19-20(KJV).
Folks, don’t let it be heard that you are ignorant of this assignment because all that you need to know have been made available to you by the Owner of life- Jesus Christ. Never forget that for everything you get involved in because of the kingdom, there is a corresponding reward “if you {profess ignorance and} say, who weighs and ponders the heart perceive and consider it? And He who guides your life, does not He know it? And shall not He render to {you and} every man according to his works? – Proverbs 24:12(Amp). Get rid of all disturbances and enter into this assignment. You meet those that sin is drawing to the slaughter on daily basis, in the bus, your neighbourhood, in your place of work, they are all over the place. Wake up now before eternity catches you unawares!
Prayer Point: My Father, I know I have not been faithful, forgive me and wake me up into this rewarding assignment.
