Topic: Why Jesus Used Parables
Bible Reading: Genesis 49,50; Matthew 13:30-58
“All these things spake Jesus unto the multitudes in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them” Matthew 13:34 (KJV)
Parables are stories from everyday life that relate and illustrate certain spiritual truths. They are unique because they reveal the truth to those who are spiritual and at the samd time concealing it from the unbelieving. Parables were used by Jesus because of His integrity. How?
God hates waste. He said in His Word in Isaiah 44:3 (KJV), “For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, And floods upon the dry ground:” Our hunger level attracts what God gives us in the Kingdom. The disciples craved for more of His word. Matthew 13:36 (KJV) says, “Then Jesus sent the multitudes away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.” People who are hungry for the truth will come back for more.
As a man of integrity, Jesus will not give you something you did not ask for or else He violates His integrity. Giving them information they did not ask for will be tantamount to violating their right of not desiring it. Jesus said in Matthew 7:7 (KJV), “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and he shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”
Remember, those who hunger for the truth put in a level of sacrifice that separates them from the multitude. The disciples came back to Him after long hours of teaching and wants to know more about the parables,; not forgetting that they have left home, mother, father, wives, business, etc. The Kingdom is now their priority.
As you make His word your priority He spends more time with you.
Prayer: Father, I receive grace to spend more in your in Jesus name.
