Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles. 10, 11, 12; John 6:49-71
“From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.” – John 6:66 (KJV)
No one wants the labour of his hands to get scattered when he has long vacated the scene let alone when he is alive. There is always sorrow in the heart of any leader whose loyalists suddenly develop a change of mind and thus turn their backs at him. It leaves the leader devastated most times and made him had a long night thinking of how to start all over again.
Jesus Christ, the greatest leader that ever lived, had similar challenge during His earthly ministry. One time while dispensing eternal truth to the people, he raised with them a matter on which they ought to have sought further clarification but because they felt that the saying could qualify them to have eternal dwelling with Him, they, instead opted to turn back. What did Jesus say that prompted that decision? “But this is the Bread that comes down from heaven, so that [any]one may eat of it and never die. Myself am this Living Bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this Bread, he shall live forever: and also the Bread that I shall give for the life of the world is My flesh (body)” John 6:50-51 (Amp)
Can you also think of the many times you have attempted to discontinue with the Lord as a result of hard teachings which you concluded are difficult to carry out by any human standard? It is not enough to take that conclusion. When a subject is not properly understood, you should look out for a way to seek clarification from those who are clear with the subject. After all, no one calls it quit from his family even when on a subject that is not clear at the beginning, rather he perseveres and looks for a way to understand it for the continuity of the family. It is the same in the family of Christ. It is not now to turn away from the Lord, not even anytime. Stick to Him till you draw your last breath.
Prayer: Lord, turning back is not an option for me. I receive grace to continue till I see You in glory in Jesus name.
