Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 1-2; John 7:32-53
Memory verse: ” So there was a division among the people because of him.” John 7:43 (KJV)
Christ ‘s coming to the earth was for the good of all men. However, this good has caused so many changes in families, places of worship, among friends, etc. His coming has brought division among the people. For instance, religious leaders were no longer of same mind because His words have affected some causing a split among them.
Christ even told His listeners one time, that anyone who is ready to follow Him must make this decision to split. He says, “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. [35] For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. [36] And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.” Matthew 10:34-36 (KJV). The word of God must cause a division anywhere it is preached.
Do you remember the early days when you first heard the word? How it separated you from your friends, and made you stop going to places you used to like? Such were the effect of the word. It begins to affect our minds causing us to think differently in a way never done making those around us who are yet to get the import of the word to term us as wierd. Even in families, this split is evident as beothers became separated among their own.
In today’s bible reading, the bible tells us “So there was a division among the people because of him.” John 7:43 (KJV). Even the officers of the Pharisees sent to take him came back without him. And when asked why, “The officers answered, Never man spake like this man” John 7:46 (KJV). Wherever the word of God is there is expected to be a split or division among the people because of the power in the word affecting the mindset of some setting the pace for their salvation.
