Bible Reading: Isaiah 59, 60 & 61: 2 Thessalonians 3
“For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee” Isaiah 60:2 (KJV)
Darkness, in this scripture, refers to all the negative activities of evil as perpetuated by the forces of darkness. From the beginning of creation when God declared “let there be light,” darkness gave way. Darkness must always give way to light. The above scriptures is reiterating God’s covenant of exemption for His children. “They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings” Exodus 10:23 (KJV). That was the covenant of exemption for God’s people operational in the land of Egypt. In the last days, this Covenant of Exemption will be fully operational and manifested in favour of those who are God’s children living in truth and holiness.
Darkness in this passage represents the terrible surge of evil and plagues that will come upon the land. Activities engineered from hell such as homosexuality, lesbianism, increased activities of sexual immorality and promiscuity, human trafficking, ritual killings, diseases such as Covid-19, other plagues, increase in wickedness and satanic activities will be on the increase. We are getting close to a time of the final liberation of God’s people from the earth. We are in the last days and as we get closer to the ejection of God’s people from this evil world there shall be increase in the intensity of darkness and its activities on earth. Most of these activities that will undermine God and righteousness are sponsored from hell to pollute humanity. One of such activities is the legalizing of same sex marriage and the gradual recognition of open sex through the activity of the Big Brother shows. Most of these activities of darkness are being suppressed due to the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit. The actual gross darkness will appear when the believers have been taken away. “For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way” 2 Thessalonians 2:7 (KJV). The bible records that this period in the history of humanity is perilous (2 Timothy 3:1). It is a period of danger and fear as demons are multiplying their holds on humanity causing people to act in an unprecedented evil and wicked manner. Massive killing of innocent persons and children are taken place on daily bases with an unprecedented increase in terrorism.
Our consolation as Christians is that while these activities are there representing gross darkness, the glory of God which is the light of the gospel and the redemption of Christ will separate and differentiate us, with the warning; ‘… Touch not my anointed, and do my prophets no harm’.Psalm 105:15 (KJV). True and genuine Christians who are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise (Ephesians 1:13) will be exempted from the effect of this gross darkness. “And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof” Ezekiel 9:4 (KJV)
My dear reader your only escape from this terrible darkness engulfing the world is your acceptance of Jesus Christ in your life as Lord and Saviour. Do so now before it is too late.
Prayer: Father, I put my trust in you to keep and protect me from this terrible darkness coming upon the world.
