Bible Reading: Micah 4-5; Revelation 11.
Memory Verse: “And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.” Revelation 11:12 (KJV).
Come up higher was a command to two witnesses of God who were dead and their corpse laid on the street for three and a half days before the Holy Spirit quickened their bodies and they came back alive. Revelation 11:12 (KJV) says of these witnesses, “And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.”
They were commanded from heaven to come up higher and as they went, their enemies became helpless but just watched them. It does not matter, how long you have been having a challenge. You could have thought it was all over, your adversaries could have been rejoicing over your situation as was the case of these two witnesses (Revelation 11:10). But God Almighty who resurrected the Lord Jesus after three days in the grave will bring you up out of that situation and make you a wonder to those around you.
The type of situation does not matter, whether it’s a health challenge, sour relationship, business or career downturn, financial problem or spiritual battle. God Almighty who is able to raise the dead to life, the one who raised the two witnesses that were killed by the beast back to life, who set the captive free, who provided abundance from a little jar of oil can transform your situation as long as you are ready to obey Him. He says in Matthew 11:28 (KJV), “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
He is able to give you rest in the midst of storm as He can always calm every storm. All He expects of you is to surrender your life to Him and thereafter live a life of total obedience to His words, then He will fight your battles for you irrespective of the power and strength of your adversary because our God is the King of kings and Lord of Lords ( Revelation 19:16), the Almighty God!
Coming up higher for an unbeliever means being convicted of your sins, confessing and forsaking them; accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and living a life of obedience thereafter. To a backslider, it means coming back to the Lord and apologizing for your error, taking up the cross again and promising never to go back again. And to a believer, it means deepening your relationship with God by consecrating yourself, spending more time in your study of the word and fellowshipping with Him. This way, you will get to know Him more. So, the key to going up higher (moving closer to God) is deepening your relationship with God.
Prayer point: Call on God for mercy this morning and invite him to intervene in your life to take you higher.
