Bible Reading: Micah 4-5; Revelation 11.
Memory Verse: “And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.” Revelation 11:18 (KJV)
The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Those who fear God will not do things that will annoy Him. Rather, they will seek for things that will please Him and ensure they do His will. The Bible says clearly that the duty of man on earth is to fear God and obey his commandments. ( Ecclesiastes 12:13 KJV)
So whoever does not fear God is not fulfilling His purpose on earth. Fearing God is not by saying it but by your action. It is said that action speaks louder than voice. If you do things that are contrary to the will of God it means you do not fear Him even if you are a minister of his Gospel.
A number of Christians hide under Grace to perpetuate wickedness saying the Grace of God abounds unto them (Romans 5:15 KJV) but they close their mind to what Apostle Paul said in the following chapter. Romans 6:1-2 (KJV), “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? [2] God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”
You cannot truly serve God if you do not fear Him. That is why the Psalmist says in Proverbs 9:10 (KJV), “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” It is also the fear of God that forms the basis for your holiness having acknowledged that God has promised to be your father once you separate yourself from unclean things. Thus Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians in 2 Corinthians 7:1 (KJV), “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” The fear of God is so fundamental to our faith that the twenty four elders also prophesied that those who feared God to the end will be given eternal reward. Revelation 11:18 (KJV) says, “And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.”
Prayer: God Almighty, please give me the grace to fear you always in everything I do in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
