Topic: Worshipping God.
Bible Reading: Micah 4-5, Rev. 11
Memory Verse: “And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,” Revelation 11:16 (KJV).
God seeks for worshippers (John 4:23 KJV); those who will sincerely worship Him with their body, soul and spirit. Such a worship is indicative of a number of things: firstly that you surrender yourself to God. That simply means you are honouring God because you willingly surrender to Him as your superior. So you are saying with all your life that you acknowledge the superiority of God Almighty over your life.
Secondly it indicates appreciation. Appreciating what God has done for you, what He is doing and/or what He will do. It is a way of showing gratitude to your father. Thirdly, it shows you are giving God pleasure by giving Him what He wants. Revelation 4:11 (KJV) says, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Knowing that we are created in God’s image and human beings get pleasure when we are given what we desire! God created us to give Him pleasure and worshipping Him the way He desires, is a way of giving Him that which He wants. No wonder the Psalmist said in Psalm 100:4 (KJV), “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”
The bible tells us how the twenty four elders continually worship God to give Him pleasure. Revelation 11:16 (KJV) says, “And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God.” They give us examples on what to do to God Almighty to remain in His presence because that is what they do continually in His presence. And if you can be in His presence, sorrow will disappear because Psalm 16:11 (KJV) tells us, “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” So a way out of every sorrowful situation is attracting the presence of God. And a simple way of entering His presence is by worshipping Him like the twenty four elders.
Let all the parts of your body, soul and spirit worship the Lord and enter His presence particularly as the year is coming to an end. Psalm 103:1 (KJV) makes a request, “Bless the Lord , O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.” There is no better way to crown the year with God’s goodness!
Action Plan: Worship God with your body, soul and spirit totally submitting to him for one hour today without asking for anything!
