Bible Reading: Job 8; Heb. 9:15-22
“And for this cause he is the mediator of new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance” – Heb. 9:15 (KJV).
A mediator is go-between two persons or between two partners. Christ is the go- between man (human being) and God.
The Priesthood and sacrifices of the Old Covenant was a shadow or type of Jesus Christ and the New Covenant. They were obeying and doing what Christ is coming to do and perfect. “And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness” – Gen. 15:6.
Sinful deeds are more than just wrong actions. It includes every effort to be acceptable to God, without faith in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ and full acceptance of Him as one’s Personal Lord and Saviour.
Even the people of the old covenant times were saved through Christ’s anticipated sacrifice. Though it has not yet happened then, but by obeying the instruction giving to them – offering unblemished animal sacrifice – they were looking forward to the coming death of sin by the spotless Lamb of God – Jesus Christ.
Christ is the final sacrifice for sin that God has offered for the forgiveness of sin and salvation for anyone who believes. Have you hooked up with this Blood? No matter the degree of your evil, the final work of Christ has the capacity to wash your past. Just get into His provision.
Prayer Point: O Lord God, help me put my whole trust in the mediating work of Jesus Christ for my final salvation, in Jesus Name, Amen!
