Bible Reading: Job 38; 1 Pet. 1:17-25
“But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you” – 1 Peter 1:25 (KJV)
Immutable means unchangeable. The word of God cannot change no matter how seemingly “unreasonable” it sounds. For example, it must have sounded quite unreasonable when God asked Jehoshaphat and his army in Judah to appoint singers to praise his name on the battle field against an army of nations that outnumbered Judah and far more equipped than them. But anything contrary would have been a disaster as the songs won the battle.
This did not happen once or twice. Also in Heb. 11:30, the bible tells us of how a shout broke down a very thick and intimidating walls of Jericho.
In the current dispensation, we have seen the word of God gone ahead to heal people of incurable diseases and made ways for people where there were no ways just like the rod of Moses parted the Red Sea. No wonder the bible says, Jesus the same yesterday, and today and for ever. He does not change because he is the word of God. Therefore, I decree into the life of someone reading this devotional that God is delivering you from that incurable disease today in the name of Jesus.
The word endures and does not matter how long, it will fulfill its purpose. That is why Our God is the way, the truth and life. The truth does not change no matter the environment or circumstance. So 1 Peter 1:25 (KJV) says: “But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”
Thus the word of the Lord that had been preached thousands of years ago, is what we are still preaching. The bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV): “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” There have been various changes of governments, several generations of people, emergence and death of empires and kingdoms over the years but the word of God has not and will not change.
Prayer: Father open my eyes, ears and heart to the treasures of your word in Jesus name.
