“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost” – Romans 15:13(KJV)
Hope is defined as ‘the virtuous desire for future good’. Our Christian foundation is built on hope. The above scriptures says our God is the God of hope. In Hebrews 11:1(KJV) faith is defined as “The substance of things hope for, the evidence of things not seen”. Hope is the mother of faith. Hope gets pregnant with expectation and delivers faith. We believe in what we hope for and we cannot hope for what we don’t believe in. Hope is one of the three graces “And now abideth faith, hope, charity (love),” – 1 Cor. 13:13(KJV). Jesus Christ is our hope – 1 Timothy 1:1 (KJV) In Romans 15:4 Paul wrote “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope”. The Psalmist declared in (Psalm 33:18) that the eyes of the Lord is upon them that fear him and upon them that hope in his mercy.
What are the things we hope for:-
God’s calling: – Ephesians 4:4
Eternal Life: – Titus 1:2
The Resurrection: -Acts 24:15
Hope is the helmet and anchor in our Christian journey (1 Thess. 5:8 and Hebrew 6:19). When the LORD is your hope you are blessed.
Finally Apostle Paul writing in Hebrews 6:11(KJV) said “And we desire that every one of you do show the sane diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end”. It is with this understanding that Paul wrote in Romans 12:12(KJV) “Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing instant in prayers”.
In concluding this piece I wish to refer verbatim to the words of Apostle Peter in 1 Peter 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”.
Father, grant me the grace to abound in hope of your glorious appearing to take me away from this wicked world into your beautiful abode in Jesus name.
