BIBLE READING: Numbers 1,2; Mark 3:1-18
“And the children of Isreal did accordingly to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so did they” – Numbers 1:54 (KJV)
Good leadership is often a result of good followership. When you are privileged to have good followers, the likelihood of achieving good leadership is high. I understand that good leadership makes good followership but it is possible to be a good leader with bad followers. It is also possible to be good followers and have bad leadership. Where a good leader is privileged to have or make good followers, leadership becomes so fulfilling. The result is that such leader is able to raise other leaders.
The children of Isreal here in this reference walked in obedience by doing according to all that the Lord commanded Moses. They were able to achieve much and conquer more ground by good and obedient followership, both to the Lord and to his servant, Moses, their Leader. But this was not always the case with them. At other times, they rebelled against God and against Moses’ instructions and they suffered for it.
God guides and leads us through human leaders. As we follows the leader he has set for us we find peace, joy, victory and fulfillment in life. “And they rose early in the morning and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, Believe in the Lord Your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, So shall ye prosper” – 2 Chronicles 20:20 (KJV)
Prayer: Lord make me a good follower.
