TOPIC: JESUS OUR STRONG TOWER
Bible Reading: Numbers 5-6; Mark 4:1-21
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe” – Proverbs 18:10 (KJV)
Before Jesus was born, the angel instructed Joseph to name him – Jesus! Which means saviour and deliverer. Jesus saves people from their sins. It is in His nature and character to save and deliver. He didn’t come to punish men because of sin, He came to save them. Wherever there is sin and its antecedents, He goes into the business of saving. Jesus is the Name that the righteous runs into and are saved.
When the angel said in Matthew 1:21 that “… he will save his people from their sins,” it means that He will deliver them from the consequences of their sins because sin comes with consequences and we need salvation and deliverance from those consequences. Thank God we have Jesus. With our eyes constantly upon Him, sin will never have dominion over us because we have been redeemed from its grip; “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” Hebrews 12:1-3 (KJV).
When Jesus went up on the cross, He paid the ultimate price for man’s sin. Today, the cross stands to remind us that our sins have been forgiven when we believe. Even if you fall and make mistakes, He is still your saviour.
Because you have received Jesus as Lord, you are His and He will not punish you. Jesus is with you to help you. Are you still dealing with a habit, addiction or trouble in your life? Don’t run away from Him, He is your saviour. Stay in the company of other believers. Call on Him and keep declaring His Word who and what He says concerning you and He will always save you.
Never forget that Jesus is your saviour and not your punisher.
Prayer: Thank you Father for your saving grace in the Name of Jesus.
