TOPIC: A CALL TO OBEY
Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 13, 14, 15; John 7:1-27
“Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will rise up for me against the workers of iniquity?” – Psalm 94:16 (KJV)
The world is full of cruelty and iniquity but God is busy looking for those who will salvage the world from her predicament. Right from the beginning, God has never stopped asking for those who would be on His side to bring sanity to His decaying creation. Abraham obeyed the call, Moses did not do otherwise, and, Joshua followed the path and many others.
David got the message that the Philistines were around to route the land of God and he enquired of God and secured clearance to confront them. The Scripture puts it this way: “And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them” 1 Chronicles 14:8 (KJV). David heard and went out against them. How do you handle the threat of the evildoers? The people of old saw it as call to engage them in battle.
In the days of Christ as well, the evil was all over the place yet He did not renege in discharging His responsibility by revealing to them the mind of God. The Scripture says: “Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. And the Jews marveled, saying how knoweth this man letters, having never learned” – John 7:14-15 (KJV). He did not refuse the call to teach the Jews in His days regardless of the risk involved.
Just as God used many people in the days of old who yielded themselves to Him, He is willing to use as many who will obey His call. Are you willing to obey the call that has been coming to you since you came to Him?
Prayer: I choose to obey your call as long as I live. Lord, give me grace.
