Bible Reading: Psalm 59, Revelation: 15
“But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble” – Psalm 59:16(KJV).
Truly speaking there are days of a person’s trouble. A day when nothing seems to be working. A day that the wicked encompasses you round about. The day that everything seems to turn upside down. It is a day when the spirit of depression visits with terrible negative thoughts. The day of trouble is the day of affliction and pain, when those you trust in will fail you. However terrible the day of trouble may be, there is a God that delivers at the thickest point of your predicament. He is the God of Jacob. The Almighty God is stronger and mightier than anything on earth. He has the capability to deliver and save from the most terrible of situations. “The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee” – Psalm 20:1(KJV).
King David experienced a lot of days of trouble in the hand of Saul but the God of Jacob delivered him from them all. He is in the right place to testify of the mightiness of God to deliver. God’s power and ability is unlimited and infinite. God has all it takes to hide you from your enemies or put your enemies to flight. He chooses how best to deliver you from trouble. “For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock” – Psalm 27:5(KJV).
God is indeed our refuge in the day of trouble. Our confidence is in his ability to deliver his own. Hear what the LORD God says concerning delivering his own, “Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet I will not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before”- Isaiah 49:15-16(KJV). How can God who cannot lie give you such a promise and assurance and you fret in the day of trouble? He that promised is faithful. Be rest assured that God will surely deliver his own in the day of trouble.
Prayer: Father, thank you for your divine promises which are as sure as the covenant of the day and night.
