Bible Reading: Proverbs 26: 1-28
“As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool” – Proverbs 26:1(KJV).
The society is filled with many self-acclaimed persons who don’t see anything evil in eliminating the grace of God from whatever they have achieved in life. Many have been exalted in our society who are not meant to smell it talk less of being given such honour. Unfortunately, the society is gullible and this has also crept into the church- award of honour to those who should not be close to it.
Rather than parading the fool with pride, we are only encouraged to give such a rod in the back (verse 3). What is the significance of this? It will help him to come back to his senses to do what is expected of him before his allotted time expires here on earth. Aside from that, we are asked never to answer a fool according to his folly (verse 4). There is also a time for us to answer the fool in order for him not to think he is wise (verse 5). Fools, going by the Scriptures, is not fit to be sent on an errand (verses 6&9). Is this not true of some of us who are claiming to belong to Christ. How many damages have you exposed your organization to as a result of your imprudent life? Words in the mouth of a fool are always unequal (verse 7). Any honour given to a fool shall surely fly away just like a stone around a sling. “As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool” –Proverbs 26:8(KJV).
No fool shall also go unrewarded (verse 10). Fools are always going back to what they once decided against (verse 11). Have you also decided against fornication, adultery, lust, pride, stealing, drunkenness, smoking, cheating, deceit, falsification, self-centeredness and all that the Scripture mentioned in Galatians 5:19-21 and Colossians 3:5? Rather than maintaining this, you notice that you are still slipping back into them, you should know that you are just telling the world who exactly you are – A FOOL. However, you should know that this is not the definition God has for your life. Allow Christ to give your life a new meaning today and you shall be glad you did.
Prayer: Everlasting Father, give my life a meaning after your own mind in Jesus name.
