Bible Reading: Exodus 1-3; Matthew 15:21-39
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. [9] For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 (KJV)
Learning the ways of God is something only children who are very close to their parents care to do. It must be patiently learned and observed. Children who have learned this can represent their fathers any day, anytime and anywhere.
In today’s bible reading Jesus showed compassion again by asking His disciples how much food they had in the gathering since the multitudes have been listening to Him for three days without going out for food. So our Lord figured they could barely make it back home on empty stomachs. The reply of the disciples simply reflected the thoughts of the realm they belong; “And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?” Matthew 15:33 (KJV).
Jesus made us know we are in the world but not of this world (John 17:16) and the earlier we start thinking in line with the mindset of the kingdom in which we belong, the better. The disciples presented what they have to Him; seven loaves and a few little fishes. In the kingdom and before God nothing is small if you present it to Him. And Jesus did just that setting us an example to follow.
The bible says in Matthew 15:35-37 (KJV), “And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. [36] And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. [37] And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.“ In fact the men in that gathering were four thousand apart from women and children.
God has not changed; knowing His ways gives commands of His acts. Thanksgiving is one way of God that commands wonders in our lives.
Prayer: Father, teach me to know Your ways so I can serve You better.
