Bible Reading: Numbers 25-26; Mark 3:1-17
“For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” – 1 Corinthians 1:17-18
Sometimes we think that the only thing that the cross did was to eradicate our sins and make us the righteousness of God but there is more because that was just the beginning of the continuous work of the cross in our lives. The work of the cross has a continual effect on the believer’s everyday life as it is appropriated. Hebrews 10:14 says, “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” We are being set apart (sanctified) from sickness, poverty, lack and defeat as we stand in the victory of Christ.
That means the cross is constantly delivering, protecting, healing, making whole and causing the believer to do well; this is the meaning of ‘being saved.’
What makes some believers still fall sick, poor and fail in life is the wrong message being preached and believed wrongly. These two render the effect of the cross fruitless, void of value and of no effect. Instead of preaching the goodness (not bad news) of what God has done for us in Christ Jesus as the Apostle Paul did, many preachers tell believers what is wrong with them and what they have to do to merit God’s goodness and blessings. Instead of believers operating in life from a place of victory, they are always operating to victory.
Jesus did it all on the cross and what He did on the cross is your everyday salvation.
Stop listening to messages filled with bad news and start listening to the good news of the gospel. As you listen and believe the good news of what Jesus has done for you, the work of the cross will begin to take effect in your life. You will discover that your life starts changing because the cross is working in your life.
Prayer: Thank You, Father, for what You accomplished for me on the cross, thank You for the salvation of my soul.
