Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 4-6; Luke 18:18-43.
Memory Verse: “Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!” 2 Samuel 6:20 (KJV).
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:33 (KJV), “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” You need to watch what you say and write so as not to affect your destiny negatively. A young person was said to have read a write up on social media and replied that the write up was foolish without knowing anything about the writer. A few weeks later, he was in an interview and was faced with the same person he had called foolish on the social media! You can imagine how he performed at the interview after knowing the identity of the interviewer!
When David showed his delight in God by dancing so freely when the Ark of God was being carried to the City of David from the house of Obededom (2 Samuel 6:12), Micah saw him and felt he wasn’t showing elegance as the king in his dancing steps. She retorted in 2 Samuel 6:20 (KJV), “Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!” Though David replied and did not curse her but God sealed her faith. The Bible states in 2 Samuel 6:23 (KJV), “Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.”
Apostle Paul enjoined Christians in Ephesians 4:29 (KJV), “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers” Are you taking to this instruction? If Michal, the daughter of Saul and wife of David had taken to that instruction, she would not have died barren!
It is important that you watch what you say or write to others recognizing that every human being is a creature of God and their creator expects you to show them respect. Thus, Philippians 2:3 (KJV) asserts, “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.” So, no matter the circumstance, let your word be what can give life and not cause death knowing that death and life are in the power of the tongue.
Action Point: Examine your self and ensure you do not speak or write words that debase others in your communication with them.
