Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 16,17,18; John 7:28-53
“The officers answered, Never man spake like this man” John 7:46 (KJV)
The above was the answer given to the Pharisees and religious leaders by the officers who they sent to go arrest Jesus. But on getting to where He was at the temple teaching, as He usually does, the same officers could not lift their hand on Him. Rather, they too were touched by the words of Jesus that on their return they said to their senders, when asked why they did not bring him, “Never man spake like this man.” John 7:46 (KJV).
Remember, the words Jesus spoke were directly from God, and the bible says that he that is from above is above all (John 3:31). The words from above created the whole world and in this same word lies the power that upholds all things (Hebrews 1:7). As the word truly enters into any man it tends to hit the conscience such that repentance and words like the ones of our memory verse would be uttered.
As Christians, without this Spirit-backed words, we cannot do much especially in the area of soul winning. As the word comes, backed by His Spirit, it hits the conscience and the unsaved turns to Christ quickly. Many who gave their lives to Christ can testify of how hard the word pricked them when they got saved. This is as a result of the Spirit backing the words coming out of our mouths.
Jesus, our example, could not do anything, nor speak any words without the help of the Spirit. No wonder He was a success in His stay here on earth. God has not changed. His Spirit has been poured on us since Pentecost and is still empowering many to do the works of God, but only if you truly are on God’s side. As you line up with heavens agenda here on earth be assured that your words will be backed by His Spirit as you begin to communicate the mind of God on any issue on the earth.
