BIBLE READING: 1 CHRONICLES 6-7, JOHN 8: 21-36
Memory verse: “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed”. John 8:36 (KJV)
From the creation of the earth, it has been God’s intention for man to live in peace, joy and absolute freedom. That is why He gave man the whole of earth to possess, a garden full of food, amazing animals to keep him company and a beautiful loving wife Eve. “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth” Genesis 1:28 (KJV). God did not intend for anyone to be in bondage. Sickness, setback, failure and bondage all came as a result of sin. When man chose to disobey God, sin set in and brought all the trouble we see today.
Therefore, if we must return back to the original plan, it is very necessary that we follow God’s instructions on how to reclaim our lost mandate. His instructions on this matter are very clear. “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” John 8:32 (KJV). Reading down, you will discover the Jews who believed on him asked a pertinent question. How could Jesus say to them “ye shall be made free” when they as Abraham’s seed had never been servants to anyone? They were thinking of physical slavery but Jesus made them realize that they were slaves to sin and the only way to be free was to accept the Son who has the power to grant total freedom and restore man to God’s original plan.
The first freedom anyone can enjoy is freedom from the yoke of sin. When one has been delivered from sin’s bondage and its punishment, one can then enjoy total freedom. Only Jesus can give total freedom. The freedom He gives is wholesome. Salvation from sin and total freedom from its chains are guaranteed when you accept Him. He is the way, truth and life. Come to him now and be free indeed.
Prayer: Jesus, I confess you as Saviour and Lord over my life. Make me free indeed.
