Bible Reading: ISAIAH 6:1-end
“And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not” – Isaiah 6:9 (KJV)
The major reason people reject the gospel is wrong perception and lack of understanding. This is as a result of spiritual blindness inflicted on the fallen man by satan. “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them” – 2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV). If people see things as they truly are in the light of eternity or from God’s perspective, they will not reject the gospel or toil with God’s words and principles. Why should the way that ends in destruction seem right unto any? “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” – Proverb 16:25 (KJV).
Satan in his wicked agenda to destroy man blinds his heart to the truth of the gospel through his lies and deceit. In his cunningness and craftiness, he makes lies so appealing and the truth so disgusting so that man in his fallen state may reject the truth and embrace a lie. The evil system of this world is opposed to the kingdom that is why the scripture warns that we should not think like the people of this would but like the people of the kingdom of God. “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” Romans 12:2 (KJV).
The worldly mindset is warp and distorted; kingdom mindset is good, acceptable and perfect. When a Christian renews his mind, he gains understanding of God’s will, and of God’s purpose. An unregenerate and natural mind cannot understand, apprehend or appreciate spiritual things. “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” – 1 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV). Spiritual perception is superior to mere sight. Jesus came to restore sight to, not only the physically blind but also to the spiritually blind.
Giving sight to the spiritually blind was his priority but unfortunately, many missed this opportunity because in their wrong perception, they fail to acknowledge their blindness.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, may the eyes of my spiritual understanding be enlightened.
