Bible Reading: Psalm 119:49-104; 1 Corinthians 4.
Memory Verse: “For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.” Psalm 119:89 (KJV)
A lot of Christians go through unnecessary troubles because they do not exercise their faith. Hebrews 10:38 (KJV) says, “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.” When we pray to God, we should also believe that He would answer our prayers. Faith is substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen! When you pray and truly hope for the answers your action should be the evidence that you truly believe God will answer you. That is exercising your faith.
How do you explain a situation where a community decided to come together to pray for rain to put an end to drought in their environment. On the day of prayer, all of them came out to the scene without any umbrella except a small boy! He was expecting an immediate answer; faith of a typical child! The question is whether in deed those other people believed God was going to answer their prayer or they had taken prayer to be mere routing exercise. The Bible says in Psalm 119:89 (KJV), “For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.” And the lord Jesus Christ told Peter and the rest of the disciples in response to their surprise that the fig tree which Jesus cursed the previous day had withered in Mark 11:23 (KJV), “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
Why then do you pray and still worry about the same issue you committed to the hands of God? The implication of such a worry is that you do not have faith that God can do it. Truly, except you have done things that distanced you from God like sin against him (Isaiah 59:1-2), God will answer your prayers. But you need to believe Him that He will do so; the just shall live by faith!
So what is your challenge that appears intractable? You need to commit it to God and also believe that He will answer you. The answer may not be in the way you expect it but God will not only answer but show you why He has not answered the way you want it if you are sensitive enough to the Holy Spirit within you. Always remember the last verses of Romans 14:22-23 (KJV), “Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. [23] And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.”
Action Point:
Faith is the currency of the kingdom, begin to exercise your faith from now.
