Bible Reading: Job 10; Heb. 10:1-8
“For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me” – Hebrews 10: 4-5 (KJV)
Offering of the sacrifice for sins on the Day of Atonement in the Old Testament reminded the people of their sins all over again and spurred up guilt. This owes to the fact that the blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sins. So, what they need was a permanent forgiveness which the sacrifice and offering they were bringing could not achieve. But under the new covenant, Christ sacrificed Himself once for all. “For he hath made him to be sin for us who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” – 2 Cor. 5:21 (KJV). A permanent forgiveness of sins and justification can only be gotten in Christ Jesus.
When we confess our sin to God, and receive remission via the blood of Jesus Christ, we need never to think of it again. God has forgiven us and the sin no longer exists; it has been blotted away by the blood of Jesus Christ (I John 1:7b, 9). Christ is our advocate before God “…And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” – 1 John 2:1b (KJV).
Folks, you are encouraged to live in full obedience to God’s Word and instructions in the power and control of the Holy Spirit. The sacrifice of Christ was fulfilled because He made it a point of duty to do the will of God even when that involves death. Hear the Scripture, “then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God” Hebrews 10:7 (KJV). Until we thirst to do the will of God, it will be difficult to appropriate Christ’s provision of redemption into our lives. Are you desirous of doing the will of God?
Prayer Points: O God, help me to thirst after you and to live right in Christ Jesus, in Jesus name. Amen
