…Spreading the gospel of Christ

Bible Reading: Job 40; 1 Peter 2:9-16.

“For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:” – 1 Peter 2:15 (KJV)

I read of a story of a woman whose husband was a night crawler and a drunkard. The husband had two friends of the same behaviour.  However the wife remained a good Christian taking care of her husband inspite of his behaviour. One day the husband told his friends that his wife was a Christian in deed and that no matter what he did, she was never offended. The other two said the wife had not been well tested and that she was pretending.

So reluctantly, the husband agreed that his wife should be tested. One day the three went to the man’s house very late and they met food on the dining table. The man saw the food and threw it on the floor complaining to his wife that it was not well cooked. Instead of complaining the wife apologized and went to prepare another food for him and his friends. Before the food was ready, the men took drinks, messed up the house and intentionally misbehaved. Rather than being annoyed, the lady was apologetic, got the food ready for them and invited them for the meal. They ate and further messed up the house. Still the wife cared for them and cleaned the house. It was at this junction that one of them busted into tears that inspite of all their provocations, the woman remained caring and unprovoked and he apologized for their behaviour. The other two followed and all three gave their lives to Christ. This is an example of how well doing  silenced foolishness as stated in 1 Peter 2:15 (KJV): “For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:”

Well doing is the expected behaviour of a true Christian even in the face of provocations. Thus our Lord Jesus admonished us to love our enemies. Hear what he said in Matthew 5:44  (KJV): “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” It is such well doing that will distinguish a Christian from non-believers!

This is so key that Jesus stated that well doing particularly to the less priviledged will open doors of heaven to those who engage in it. (Matthew 25:34-45)

Action Plan:
Review your environment and identify areas where you can sincerely help the needy. Map out plan to help and implement appropriately.

“For with God nothing shall be impossible”. – Luke 1:37 KJV Nothing is impossible with God.
