“For His anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning” – Psalm 30:5(KJV).
Mary Magdalene was the one Jesus cast out seven devils from. She wept at the sepulchre of Christ thinking that some people had removed his body. Genuine love for Christ who had delivered from the torment of devils compelled her actions. The two disciples that she informed about the body of Jesus came and after confirming the situation the bible said “Then the disciples went away again unto their own home” – John 20:10(KJV). Mary who came to informed them stayed behind weeping at the sepulchre of Christ. She had every reason to cry, seeing that her freedom from satanic captivity was masterminded by Christ. Her love for him compelled her to stay weeping. It is no wonder then that Christ has to appear to ask her “woman, why weepest thou? Whom seekest thou?” – John 20:15(KJV). What a great joy would have filled her heart at the revelation of Christ. What a privilege to be the first to see Christ after his resurrection! Her weeping ceased immediately Jesus called out to her. The bible said “Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni, which is to say, master” John 20:16(KJV). Joy flooded the weeping heart, hope returned instantly. The weeping through the night ceased when joy returned. “Weeping may endure for a night, but Joy cometh in the morning” Psalm 30:5b. Joy unspeakable are usually the experience of those who found Christ. Through the difficult terrain, through the raging storms of life when Christ appears the result is the return of hope and joy unspeakable. He is the object of our joy. Having picked us from the pit wherein there is not water who cannot but be joyful when grace visited. The bible says in Isaiah 12:3(KJV) “Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation”. May the unspeakable joy of the Lord flood your heart this day, May the reality of Christ resurrection bring into your life a firm assurance of His ever abiding presence.
Prayer: Father fill me with joy this day as I navigate through this earth with the abiding presence of my LORD and MASTER Jesus Christ. In Jesus name.
