…Spreading the gospel of Christ

Bible Reading: Exodus 4-6; Matthew 16

Memory verse: “And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: [23] And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.” Exodus 4:22-23 (KJV)

The events that took place in Egypt between the Israelites and the Egyptians was for the purpose of revealing the mercy and the might of God to the whole world. He started by choosing a people for Himself who will be called His own. God chose the Israelites (the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) for a special purpose. He offered them an opportunity to become the model nation of His way of life for all nations, so that all people could have His blessings. He blessed Israel because of the faith and obedience of Abraham, but He made it clear it wasn’t because they were great or righteous (Deuteronomy 7:7-8; 9:6)

God chose Moses to go down and relay this message to them in Egypt where they are going through tough times in the hand of their masters, the Egyptians. When God chooses you He fights for you immediately. In other words, when you become His everyone or thing against you are against God. But He never brings a man to His side for nothing. The whole idea behind bringing people in is for SERVICE. Even Satan forcefully makes people to serve him. That’s where God is different; He never forces anyone to serve Him, no, it is a choice. And now Israel is being presented with that choice.

The choice of service is two-fold; you are either serving God or your enemy, satan. So make it a choice to serve God and you won’t serve your enemy. When Moses and Aaron presented the elders of Israel with this choice, they agreed to go serve God in the wilderness. The bible says, “And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.” Exodus 4:31 (KJV).

Anytime you made that choice to serve God He fights off everything of the enemy against. He even said He will judge the gods of Egypt. He sent a message to Pharaoh, “And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn” Exodus 4:22-23 (KJV). You become God’s firstborn like Jesus immediately you make the decision to serve God today.

Serving God pays as it brings you closer to your maker who in turn reveals your purpose here on earth to you. Besides, He takes care of anyone who makes the decision to serve Him.
