Bible Reading: Psalm 113, 114 & 115; 1 Corinthians 6
“Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body” 1 Corinthians 6:18 (KJV).
Sexual immorality, more often than not, starts from wrong thoughts. James 1:14-15 (KJV), “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of His own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” So when wrong thoughts enter your mind, get rid of them immediately. If you take them and dwell on them, you do them. Proverb 23:7 (KJV) says, “For as he thinketh in His heart, so is he:”
Wrong association can make people engage in sexual immorality. Proverbs 13:20 (NLT) says “Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.” A case in the bible is Dinah, Jacob’s daughter. Dinah made friends with the immoral Canaanite girls who did not serve God, and she was eventually involved in an immoral sex act with a man named Shechem (Genesis 34).
The Israelites who engaged in sexual immorality with Moabite girls brought a curse upon themselves. The young Moabite women were sent into the Israelite camp to seduce the men (numbers 25:6). Thousands of Israelite men who joined themselves to these daughters of Moab started worshipping false gods. As a result, 24,000 Israelites died just before they got into the promised land (Numbers 25:1-9).
Dinah’s association and immoral act with Shechem led his brother’s, Simeon and Levi, to kill all the men of the city on the day they were all circumcised (Genesis 34).
The end part of all immoral acts is always a sad one. Stay away from every form of immorality.
