Bible Reading: Song of Solomon 1, 2, 3; Galatians 2
“But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid” – Galatians 2:17 (KJV)
The grace and faith by which we are justified empower us to overcome sin. Justification and pardon for sin do not cancel the fact of God’s hatred for sin.
To be justified and still indulge in sin is a contradiction. Once justified it is expected that the person justified develops hatred for sin and love for righteousness. The same power that justifies enables one to live righteously. Although, justification by no means makes one perfect but the one justified is empowered with the righteousness of Christ. Beyond justification, a new nature is imparted and righteousness imputed.
The true evidence of justification is that the justified person commits to a new life of righteousness in Christ Jesus. That sin reigned in time passed so now much more will righteousness reign. Justification should lead to sanctification and holiness. Justification that does not lead to righteousness is a contradiction. Justification produces peace with God that leads to a walk of obedience and righteousness.
PRAYER: Thank you Lord for my justification and redemption in Christ Jesus.
