“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment”. – Mark 12:30 KJV

God tells us in Ecclesiastes 12:13 KJV
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man”. The reason why we are created is to fear God and obey his commandments in our fellowship with Him.  And his first commandment is to love God with all we have. Loving God with our all implies surrendering everything about us to him, knowing who he is, what he likes and what he does not like and doing all things to please him particularly when we know He is the creator of everything.

How then do we know who he is? He has made that easy for us by giving us his word… The bible. John 1:1 KJV says In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. So all we need to know about God is in the word of God. What we need to do is to study it and meditate on it. As we do so, He would reveal more of himself to us and also fill us with more of himself.

As we study his word, then we will need to do those things that he commands us to do and as we do so, we get to know him the more. The more obedient we are to his word, the closer we are to him and the more love we show to him. By so doing we will find out that we will be compliant with the instruction given in Mark 12:30 KJV  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

The interesting thing is that Love is reciprocal. As we show much love to God, we also begin to experience His love in greater dimensions more than ever before . You will also find out that lines begin to fall in pleasant places for you.

Prayer: Oh God, help me to love you with all my heart, all my soul, all my mind and strength in Jesus name.
