“And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day. And the LORD thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the LORD will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers”. – Deut. 30: 8-9(KJV)
Obedience to divine instruction is a master key to all round blessing from God. When we obey God’s instruction He sets us on the high places of the earth. Deut. 28: 1-14 spells out the numerous blessings that is associated with obeying divine instructions. In the word of God are instruction to humanity and obeying them opens you up to a prosperous living. This is clearly stated in Joshua 1: 8 (KJV) “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”. From the scriptures we can see that every scriptural breakthrough are rooted in obedience. When we obey the word of God we are obeying God, which makes us to be at peace with God. God rejoices over us and cause us to be fruitful both in our body, our livestock and in the land. Our prosperity in Christ is a function of our level of obedience to God’s instructions embedded in His word.
Most peoplefind it difficult to obey the word of God because of sin. Sin blind our mind to the instructions of the Almighty. Sin alienates us from God who is our source of supply. Disobedience cuts off our source of provision and ruptures our destiny. Disobedience cost Saul the throne. No wonder the bible say that the sin of disobedience is like witchcraft.
Obeying the word of God is an exercise of faith and faith in God’s word produces unimaginable but undeniable results. When you receive the word of God you must believe in it to produce its desired result. For example, Matt. 6:33 says “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”. This is an instruction from God’s word. Those who obeyed it can attest to its authenticity and workability. It produces unimaginable results that men has attested to. But how many people are adhering to this instruction, even among Christians? We are carried away with the cares and worries of this world and ignore this very simple and power backed instruction of the Almighty. God’s instructions are not grievous but sin has distance us from them.
Let us return to the way of the old rugged cross when we first believed, where we enjoyed divine flow and fellowship resulting from total obedience. Jer. 6:16a “Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask of the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.”
Prayer: Father, direct my step in my walk with you so that I will not stumble. In Jesus name.
