Bible Reading: Psalm 31, 2 John 1: 8-13
“So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We (as Christ’s personal representatives) beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favour (now offered you) and be reconcile to God” – 2 Corinthians 5:21(AMP)
An ambassador is an authorized representative or messenger of a country to another country. He carries all the rights and privileges of his home country. He enjoys the diplomatic coverage of his home country in the host country. He is not answerable to the president or head of government in his host country. He is answerable to the president of the country he is representing. He enjoys diplomatic immunity which exempt him from being prosecuted by the laws of his host country. He cannot be arrested or charged for any offence by the host country. As a representative of the president of his home country, he has the power of attorney to act on behalf of his president. It is on this premise we shall consider the second knowledge that we must possess and act upon in order to enjoy a victorious and triumphant life – Knowledge of who we represent on earth.
We are ambassadors of Christ i.e. Christ representatives charged with a reconciliation mission to this world. We are in this world but not of this world. We are citizens of the Kingdom of God. We are heavenly citizens and members of the household of God, “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and of the household of God” – Eph. 2:19(KJV). Talking of our heavenly citizenship Paul has this to say, “The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.…and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.” – 1 Cor. 15:47 (KJV) We are heavenly citizens on a mission on earth and we are adequately equipped “…Whatsoever ye shall ask the father in my name, he will give it you” – John 16:23(KJV). This is the power of attorney given to us to execute transaction as legal representatives of Christ. All believers have full, legal, redemptive, gospel, blood bought, promised and family right to use the name of Jesus Christ in prayers and spiritual warfare. We are authorized agents to the principal under this legal arrangement, where Jesus is the principal. We are adequately equipped by our principal (Christ) to carry out errand as messengers by the authority in his name “And these signs shall follow them that believe: In my name they shall cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues:” – Mark 16:17
We are representing the kingdom of power, consequently we have been empowered for victory “Behold, I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the powers of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” – Luke 10:19(KJV) We are heavenly equipped and power backed to accomplish our mission on earth. We have an inexhaustible power reserve for our reconciliatory assignment on earth as Christ’s representatives. We are backed up by the Almighty God as members of His household for the accomplishment of our mission here on earth. “All things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;” – 2 Corinthians 5:18(KJV)
