Bible Reading: Exodus 7-8, Matthew 17
Memory verse: “And thou shalt say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear.” Exodus 7:16 (KJV)
God never does anything against man’s will. He always gets our nod before doing anything for us. Even though He is sovereign, His sovereignty is tied to our cooperation with Him. This is because He is a God of integrity.
Even though Israel cried to Him for help He still sent Moses to confirm from them if they will be willing to serve Him if set free from the hands of the Egyptians. Exodus 4:30-31 (KJV) tells us, “And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people. [31] And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.” By bowing their heads they agreed to serve Him.
The events that followed in Egypt after that agreement to serve God is one that we still talk about today. God still does the same today but you must first agree to serve Him before you can be set free. Jesus says in Matthew 6:24 (KJV), “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.” Any who truly makes up his or her mind to serve God will see the Hand of God manifest in their lives.
Have you really made the decision to serve Him? Examples abound in the bible of how He came to the rescue of them who called on Him. As you make up your mind to truly worship Him, His judgement will come upon any trying to deny you the privilege of serving Him.
