Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 22, 23, 24; John 8:30- 59
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;” – John 8:31 (KJV)
While it is faith in Christ Jesus that got us saved, continuity in our relationship with Christ confirms our discipleship status and this is the desire of heaven. Jesus Christ desires that many come to His saving knowledge, this was why He intensified efforts to get His convicting message to the crowds who care to listen. This effort, however, yields a remarkable result, but Jesus Christ noticed that believing, though good, was not enough.
This understanding provoked the statement He made to the Jews who believed on him, “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free” – John 8:31-32 (KJV). In essence, Jesus Christ opened the eyes of the Jews who surrendered to Him that, there is need to continue in the Word. Why is this important? There are mountains which only the Word of God can enable man to climb. It is the Word that enables one to be rest assured in the valley of life. There is absolutely nothing that the Word of Christ cannot do in the life of a man.
We have in the society today many pseuds. They pretend to be the custodian of the truth of God but alas, they are far from the authentic truth because they have stopped long ago from following the truth, yet they thought they are still on course. They are still in bondage yet they are parading themselves as those who have attained freedom. It is the amount of truth which one allows the discipleship process to expose one to that brings about liberation. Are you stopping only at the level of believe? you should go further to be Christ disciples and determine to continue in His eternal Word regardless of the unbecoming situations.
Prayer Point: I receive grace to continue in Your Word in Jesus name.
