TOPIC: THE WORKS OF GOD
Bible Reading: “Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him” John 9:3 (KJV)
The question that brought about the above answer is still commonly asked today. Who sinned? What is the cause of the affliction? It was also mentioned in the time of Job. The richest man in the East then, came under a lot of affliction; he lost his children, lost his businesses, and was battling with health problems. His friends who knew him more concluded that sin was the reason behind the afflictions, whereas, there was a discussion in heaven and a go-ahead was given. The spiritual controls the physical.
The bible tells us that as Jesus passed by, he saw a man born blind and His disciples asked, “Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?” His reply will forever be a blessing to humankind as He answered, “…Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him” John 9:3 (KJV). God is busy in heaven working, but He needs a man down here to make the work displayed physically for all to see and believe.
Therefore, miracle is proof that God is the one behind the man making impossible things possible so that others can turn to God and glorify Him. Though the man is the one seen by all, yet behind him is God working through him. Jesus was the one working physically but God is working with and through Him spiritually. No wonder He said earlier, “My Father worth hitherto, and I work” John 5:17 (KJV)
As a result of the Father’s work through Jesus, the man born blind received his sight. No matter the situation just call on God for He cares about every person and wants all to attain to repentance and be saved. He works to bring people to Jesus because without Jesus no man can be saved. When asked, how can we do the works of God? Jesus. Replied, “This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent” John 6:28 (KJV).
Jesus is now the finished work of God for man. All we have to do is repent of our sins, accept Him as Lord and saviour and believe in Him with all our heart.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to believe in You with all my heart.
