Bible Reading: Job 1,2; Acts 7:21-40
” Has not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land” Job 1:10 (KJV).
From generation to generation God’s policy of blessing and prospering the righteous will not change. Job was adjudged a righteous man by the Spirit of God. He was said to be perfect and upright, one that feared God and eschewed evil. Job’s numerous positive virtues are well spelt out in Job chapter 29. Job attributed his riches and wealth to when the secret of God was upon his tabernacle. Among the characteristics of Job enumerated in that chapter are, a defender of the poor and fatherless, he provided for the widow, fought the wicked in the land, a defender of the innocent, he provided for the blind and lame and in overall he was a good man whose presence brings joy to the poor and the needy. These were the acts which are secret keys of riches and abundance that drew God’s presence to his tabernacle and caused him to be blessed and prospered.
Job 22:21(KJV) gives us an insight on how to attract divine blessing, “Acquaint now thyself with him (GOD) and be at peace: thereby good shall come upon thee.” How do we acquaint ourselves with Him? 1. Receive His laws and lay it up in your heart, 2. Return to the Almighty and put away iniquity far from thy tabernacle. 3. Put your whole trust in God and 4. Pay your vows. All these are the characteristic of a righteous living which Christ in the new dispensation has made easier for us by giving us the Holy Spirit who is the comforter and the Spirit of Truth.
This generational truth that God prospers them who live righteously was attested to by the Psalmist in Psalm 112:1-3 (KJV) “Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon the earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.” Nothing can be more true than this, that keeping and living the commandment of God prospers. This is further reiterated in Joshua 1:8 (KJV), “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shall meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” It is no wonder that the bible recorded that the man Job was the greatest of all the men of the east. He was an example of prosperity by righteousness. He was a clear example of true riches. He was blessed of God for being adherent to His commandment. Job was a true beneficiary of divine supply and abundance; hence God could vouch for him. Even the devil confirmed that he was heavily protected by God (Job1:10).
In this Dispensation of Grace hear what the bible says in 2 Corinthians 8:9 (KJV), “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for our sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich”. This is further collaborated in 2 Corinthians 9:8 (KJV), “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:” So abundance and riches has been made available to us in Christ Jesus. This is because we have been endued with the righteousness of Christ. When we come to Jesus He will make us recipients of His riches and abundance as spoken by the Psalmist.
Prayer: Father thank you for the abundance and riches that is in Christ Jesus for me.
