BIBLE READING : Song 4; 5; Galatians 3
“I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if ye find my beloved, that ye tell him, that I am sick of love“ Song 5:8 (KJV)
Falling in love is a mystery that could be hard to understand or fully explained. Love could be so intoxicating that one becomes so emotionally involved to the extent of dying for love. People do so many foolish things under the influence of lust. Love, like lust, could be so intoxicating. But unlike lust, true love will always lead to right actions. If the love of God is allowed to gain ground and invade our hearts, it will drive us to such a point that nothing else matters.
God admonished that we love him with all our might, soul and heart. This love will make us to chase after God and not want to stay away from him like in this context. This chasing after God is what we call the pursuit of God, it is expression of hunger, thirst, strong desire or craving for God. “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?”
Psalm 42:1-3 (KJV). It takes this kind of hunger to truly serve God. The heart, the soul and the entire body begin to feel empty where one is out of touch with God. Wholesomeness is the result of spiritual health.
Prayer: Dear Lord help me to be constantly in touch with you.
