Bible Reading: Jeremiah 11-13; 1 Timothy 4
Memory verses: “Righteous are You, O LORD, when I plead with You; Yet let me talk with You about Your judgments. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are those happy who deal so treacherously? You have planted them, yes, they have taken root; They grow, yes, they bear fruit. You are near in their mouth But far from their mind.” Jeremiah 12:1-2 (NKJV)
The above verses are rendered thus in the NLT version, “Lord, you always give me justice when I bring a case before you. So let me bring you this complaint: Why are the wicked so prosperous? Why are evil people so happy? [2] You have planted them, m and they have taken root and prospered. Your name is on their lips, but you are far from their hearts.” Jeremiah could not understand why a God who gives justice could be quiet while evil held sway.
David also saw evil people prospering even in the midst of blatantly disobeying God’s commandment that he almost envied them (Psalm 73:3-17). Solomon, the wisest king threw more light on why evil persist in Ecclesiastes 8:11 (NLT), “When a crime is not punished quickly, people feel it is safe to do wrong.” Why does a God of justice still allow people the freedom to commit wrong at will?
God is love; His love for man has always been the main factor why He waits for every man patiently to return. He is aware of the unique gift and qualities in every man. His love for man is a passion and commitment to see these gift and qualities come out so that they can be a blessing to their world. It is never easy to destroy something you created even when it is malfunctioning. Rather, you try over and over again to put it back together because you know the investment inherent in it .
God is patient and desires that no man be destroyed but that all come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). He also knows that we are dust (Psalm 103:14). When Adam sinned, sin took control of man through the flesh and since then men have been perishing. So, go out there and share the love of God to this dying souls for God is still forgiving and uplifting any who repents.
Action Plan: Take it upon yourself to never let a day pass without talking about Jesus to someone.
