Bible Reading: Job 42; 1 Peter 3:1-7.
“And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.” – Job 42:10 (KJV)
The bible records that Job went through some turbulence but he persevered and was not tainted even in the midst of the storm. He ended up better than he was at the start. The bible says in Job 42:10 (KJV): “And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.” The Lord has great plans for everyone of his children. He stated this in Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV): “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord , thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
What is the expected end? It is one greater than your present. Just as the latter end of Job was better than his former days, so shall your tomorrow be better than today. This promise is for you provided you meet the conditions precedent. One of them is remaining in the Lord. Job’s belief in the Lord was not shaken inspite of the loss of his wealth, his children and even his health. Instead, Job honoured the Lord. Job 1:22 (KJV) records: “In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.” Even when his wife asked him to curse God, he refused to concede. Hear him in Job 2:9-10 (KJV): “Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. [10] But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.”
If you are yet to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, or you have backslided because of your challenge, this is an opportunity to repent and ask for mercy from God Almighty and he will forgive you. Matthew 11:28 (KJV) says: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Secondly, Job continued in his holy living. He remained committed to total obedience to God. Obadiah 1:17 (KJV): says “But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.” It is not enough to be a Christian, it’s more important to live a life pleasing to God through a life of righteousness. Job’s deliverance from captivity came because he was holy.
Thirdly, you should continuously communicate with God through prayers and ensure you pray for those who wronged you. This is true neighborliness. Job did not only forgive his friends who accused him wrongly but also prayed for them and the key to his greater tomorrow was unlocked. ( Job 42:10).
Please forgive and pray for all those who have wronged you and see the great solution to your problem. This will certainly ensure that your tomorrow will be greater!
Prayer point:
Abba Father, please let my tomorrow be greater than my today in Jesus mighty name.
