Bible Reading: Psalm 119:121 – 152
“Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me” – Psalm 119:133(KJV)
God’s word is very broad and deep. Many false doctrines have been propagated from the bible because of unguided steps taken into the Word of God. Many occult groups, in addition to the other satanic books, uses the bible to perpetrate their evil and wicked acts. Many false prophets have sprang up claiming God spoke to them to establish a church with ungodly doctrine, quoting from the bible to support their nefarious activities. Some uniform churches operating under heavy presence of familiar spirits supports their activities from the bible. Some use different colours of candle to pray and visit the cemeteries and beaches in the night for prayers and holy birth claiming support of their action from the bible.
There are many claims of the bible being the source of activities that are not congruent with the wholesomeness of the word of God (the Bible). The scripture is the word of God and cannot contradict itself. Most of these negative uses and falsehood are as a result of taking wrong steps in God’s word. The author of the bible is the Holy Spirit, going through the bible without the Holy Spirit will definitely lead to false doctrine and ungodly practice. Going through the word of God with wrong motives can lead to spiritual disaster or chaos. “Who also had made us able ministers of the new testament not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth and the spirit giveth life” – 2 Corinthians 3:6(KJV). Searching through the scriptures with a wrong motive can be very devastating as it could lead to further separation from God. Seeking for power, as defined by man from the scriptures, can turn someone into a magician, especially when you become deceived that the seven books of Moses are the hidden parts of the scriptures. This is what I refer to as wrong ordering of steps through the scriptures.
When our steps are ordered right through the scriptures it lightens our heart and exposes sin for what it is. We receive light to stay out of the darkness of sin. Jesus said in John 6:63(KJV) “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life.” The kind of study the bible admonish us is set out in 2 Timothy 2:15(KJV): “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”
God’s word is truth, and truth cannot sin.
The word of God dispels sin; it protects the heart from sin. Sin is a reproach and leads to death, the word of God quickens and gives life. When you search through the scriptures by the leading of the Holy Spirit, you contact light and life. Sin is darkness while the Word of God is light. When light comes darkness will disappear (John 1:5), hence the Psalmist said in Psalm 119:11(KJV) “Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee.” When our steps are properly ordered in the word of God it blocks the way against sin, because sin is easily identified and dispensed with immediately. When our heart is stuffed full with the word of God, sin becomes abnormal and cannot find a place in such heart. Christ who is the incarnate Word of God came, after redeeming us he ascended into heaven and sent us the Spirit of truth which will guide us in all truth so that we will not miss our way in the search for life.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Follow after Jesus Christ and be guaranteed of your contact with the power of light that will set you free, for he whom the Son of God sets free is free indeed (John 8:36).
