Bible Reading: Isaiah 39:1-8
“Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days” – Isaiah 39:8 (KJV)
How quickly do we forget what God has done for us in the past? Shouldn’t we remind ourselves always about His nature — loving, caring, compassionate, forgiving, long suffering, etc? Why don’t we remember that God doesn’t change? “For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” –– Malachi 3:6 (KJV).
But God does change His mind! Yes, He does. Noah found grace in the sight of God and his family was preserved along with that of selected animals, after God had decided to wipe man off from the earth. (Genesis 6:7-8). Moses pleaded with God not to destroy the disobedient children of Israel, and He changed His mind. (Exodus 32:10-14). When Hezekiah received the message of the Lord to prepare for death, he pleaded for a review and God did. (Isaiah 38:5). The same Hezekiah forgot what God had done for him in the past and merely accepted the verdict.
Don’t give up on any promise of God. If you miss the way, God allows a u-turn and will still make good His promise. Return to Him and Pray-Until-Something-Happens (P-U-S-H).
Prayer: Lord I thank you for your grace that gives me access to all of your goodness. Amen.
