We live in an age where most people consider riches to be of more value than a good name, such people can afford to use substandard materials to build because they only think of here and now. No wonder we hear of collapsed buildings so frequently, resulting to unimaginable damages and loss of human lives and valuables.
More serious than physical structures is human destiny. So many people push Christ aside to chart a course for their destiny. The scripture warns…..There is a way that seems right to a man but the end is destruction” Proverbs 14: 12(KJV). Ultimately, the life built with the wrong material will collapse. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Only a fool will attempt to manage his life on his own. Why most people confess their need of God, many merely give a lips service to that, but in the day to day running of the affairs of life, God is neither recognized nor given a place. He is completely ignored, his word neglected and his ways abandoned.
As we live our lives from day to day, we must come to terms that without him we can do nothing. We are not sufficient of ourselves but our sufficiency is of God. It is as we recognize this fact that we see the need to acknowledge him as Lord and savior. Any life lived without Christ has no future. As the cornerstone is important to a building, much more is Jesus relevant to every life that will have eternal value.
– One is lost without him because he is the way.
– One is ignorant knowing nothing without him for he is the truth.
– One is dead without him because he is the life, in him all things consist, all things hold together in him, for life only revolves around him.
Life could revolve around wealth, pleasure, material things, fame but all these are sinking sand or vanity like king Solomon discovered (Ecclesiastes1:2}
PRAYER: Lord, save me from shadow chasing and enable me to anchor firmly on Jesus Christ the solid rock.
