Bible Reading: Exodus 12,13; Matthew 16.
“For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.” – Exodus 12:12 (KJV).
The events that took place in Egypt is one that shows how important God takes His own. The many plagues He brought upon Egypt notwithstanding, Pharoah refused to let the children of Israel go. But at the instance of the blood, Pharoah thrust them out so fast they couldn’t believe their eyes.
The blood is the last card God used in setting His people free. The blood first judged all the gods of Egypt before coming on the Egyptians. All their firstborns died in one night, both human and cattle. Israel was God’s firstborn and was in captivity until God came down. That night, Israel was set free from servitude, captivity, and the diseases of Egypt by the Passover blood.
Jesus is the Passover blood. 1 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV) says, “For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:” The same way the gods of Egypt were judged by the Passover blood, every evil force trying to hold back anyone who has made a commitment to serve God will be judged by the blood of Jesus, thereby securing the establishment of the children of God in their desire to serve God.
The key here is service to God. Judgement began on Egypt after Israel agreed to serve God (Exodus 4:31). The blood speaks on the behalf of any who has agreed to serve Him. Make that commitment today and see God in action in your life as you begin to overcome by the blood of the lamb.
