Bible Reading: Exodus 8-9; Matthew 18:1-20
Memory verse: “They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.” Exodus 10:23 (KJV)
The events in Egypt showed a picture of how the world will turn out to be for those who respect and obey the word of God and for those who do not adhere to His instructions. The King of Egypt and His people paid dearly for not obeying the word of God despite the many warnings and signs wrought through His servant, Moses. Egypt went from one plague to the other, yet the Israelites in the same Egypt in the land of Goshen was exempted from the plagues.
One of the differences that was noticeably seen is the presence of light in the habitation of God’s people while there was thick darkness in the habitation of those who rejected His word. Exodus 10:23 (KJV) says, “They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.” Today, darkness has a firm grip on those who reject God, but the light of God gives those who fear Him illumination and direction in every areas of endeavors.
The bible says in Malachi 4:2 (KJV), “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.” Despite the declining state of almost every thing in the world, God’s people are getting better and increasing daily. It goes to prove what Jesus rightly said in John 17, that we are in this world but not of this world.
However, it is our kingdom duty to go save the lost. Jesus said in Matthew 18:11 (KJV) “For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.” Just as we have been saved, we have a duty to bring the light we have received by His grace to those being held under the stranglehold of darkness. Light is the cure for darkness anyday anytime. And Jesus is the light sent to the world. He has commissioned us to go forth as the light of the world (Matthew 5:14)
Prayer: Dear Father, instill in me an unquenchable desire by the powerof the Holy Spirit to share the light you have given me at all times in Jesus name.
