Bible Reading: Numbers 14-15; Mark 6:33 -56
“For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.” – Mark 6:50 (KJV)
The night was dark and the winds were strong against them as the disciples of Jesus Christ attempted to cross the Sea of Galilee. Suddenly, they saw Jesus walking on the water in the midst of those harsh conditions, headed straight for them. The disciples were terrified and wondered if they were seeing a ghost. Then, Jesus called out to them and spoke courage into their hearts. As Christ came into the boat with them, the seas calmed and the winds ceased.
In above passage Jesus teaches his disciples courageous faith in the midst of a storm. The reality of life is that there are many hardships, sufferings, problems and challenges we face as believers in this world. We can liken them to the storms of life. Everyone confronts storms of life sooner or later. However, how we handle the storms of life makes a great difference. It is not unspiritual to be challenged, but it is unscriptural to be defeated. Jesus uses the storms of life to teach us who He really is and how He is able to calm all storms in life. When we have faith in Jesus, He will make us victorious over the storms of life because he has overcome the world. “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33 (KJV).
In the midst of our trials Jesus will never abandon us. “for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee ” – Hebrews 13:5 (KJV). As we attempt to make it through the storms of life, He walks through the storm to join us and see us safely through it all. Take courage today. The Lord is with you!
Prayer: Father thank you for your divine presence always. Grant me the courage to overcome every storm in my life in Jesus Name.
