Bible Reading: Psalm 37, 38 & 39; Acts 26
“To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith in me” Acts 26:18 (KJV).
Every believer got saved by God so as to save others. Only when you come to know this will your walk with God have meaning. Jesus Christ gave Paul, and by extension, all believers what He desires from the preaching of the gospel to the lost.
Christ commissioned Paul to “Open their eyes.” The eyes of many have been blindfolded by the devil. 2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV) says, “In whom the God of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” We are to go open the eyes of the lost through the power of the gospel.
As their eyes are open, they “turn from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God.” Satan is the ruler of this world. He rulership is characterized by darkness or ignorance in all that Christ offers. He tries to keep people from coming in contact with the gospel. But as the eyes of these ones are opened, they turn from darkness to the light which only God gives through Jesus Christ, His Son. But only through the preaching of the gospel can the power of God rescue these unsaved.
They receive forgiveness of sins. As the unsaved sees the light and embraces Jesus, his sins are forgiven. Forgiveness only comes through the believe and acceptance of the ransom sacrifice of our Lord Jesus, through His death on the cross and resurrection.
You have a responsibility to spread the gospel consciously with all that Jesus has given you.
